Minor surgery
At The Tx Room we use freezing or surgical excision for removal l of none cancerous skin lesions. Patient will require a pre-op assessment 2 weeks before their minor surgery this will involve taking a medical history, explaining procedure and benefits and alternative options, consent and what to expect before during and after your procedure. You will also be sent a video to watch prior to your pre-op visit. All samples removed will be sent to laboratory for analysis, you will be informed of the results
What can be removed surgically
Actinic keratosis
Scally patches on skin caused by excessive exposure to sun without protection, are precancerous and normally advised to get them checked and removed before any changes occur.
Cherry angioma
Small none cancerous red bumps on our skin mainly as we get older, not normally a concern unless they bleed or show any changes in size colour if so will need to be checked by your GP.
Skin tags
that can not be treated successfully with Cryotherapy. Skin tags tend to form in area the skin rubs against itself, the body produces extra cells on the skins top layers mainly found in armpits, eyelids, groin , thighs, neck, under breasts and genitals. They are harmless but some people find them unsightly.
Cysts
Must be less than 5mm in size and not on the face, breast, genital area or axilla and no sign of infection in the past 6 weeks.
Dermafibroma
A benign firm nodule on skin overgrowth of fibrous tissue non cancerous usually painless
Seborrheic keratosis
Benign skin growths non cancerous related to age, sometimes have a rough texture, can be treated with cryotherapy or surgical excision.
*Verruca/warts
Small rough lumps on the skin caused by virus and can be spread easily can take up to 6 treatments can also be treated with cryotherapy and also recommend salicylic acid. Please be aware treatments may not be successful and virus may return.
